The American Cancer Society will hold their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Georgetown on Sunday, October 2 at the Delaware Technical Community College Campus to celebrate survivors of Breast Cancer and honor those who have lost their lives battling the disease. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is a 5k run/walk that helps raise funds for breast cancer research and aims to eliminate the disease all together. Registration will begin at 7:00 am at Delaware Tech with the 5k run beginning at 8:30am and the 5k walk starting at 9:00am.

The event celebrates people who have battled breast cancer, raises awareness about steps that can be taken to prevent the disease and raises money to find cures while supporting programs and services for those who are facing breast cancer. For every dollar raised during the Making Strides campaign, the American Cancer Society states that donors will help someone with breast cancer find a ride to treatment or a free place to stay during treatment, keep the ACS phone lines open 24 hours a day, help women get access to mammograms, fund research to better prevent, detect and cure the disease and help those individual’s facing breast cancer celebrate more birthdays.

For more information or to register for the event contact Laura Martin at 410-250-4426 or laura.martin@cancer.org.
