Santa Claus will be coming to town Saturday, November 26th at 11:00am to visit area children and will be asking for their Christmas lists. Continuing his long tradition of coming to Milford, Santa will be escorted by the police to the downtown area in his red fire truck to announce his arrival. The First State Harmonettes, local women’s choir, will be performing from 10:30am-11:00am to welcome Santa to town.
Downtown Milford Inc. will be hosting their annual Santa Claus House through the month of December, encouraging families to visit the downtown area while he is here. The downtown Santa Claus House has a long history in the town of Milford with recorded photographs dating back to the 1940’s. The Santa House that has been used up until this year housed Santa for the past 20 years. Thanks to Richard Johnson of Richard Y. Johnson & Son this year the house will be brand new.
Bev French, Chairperson of the Santa Claus House program, is excited to have another successful year and expects at least 1,200 children to sit on Santa’s lap.
“It is wonderful and such a privilege,” commented Ms. French. “A privilege to see the excitement on the faces of the children as they meet Santa.”
Bev and her army of volunteers have been preparing for Santa’s arrival by cutting, sewing and stuffing 1,300 stockings to hand out to children during the event, which will be held over several evenings. Approximately 20 individuals helped cut and sew stockings, 60 volunteers will stuff the stocking and 31 local people will become Santa’s elves to help when the house is open.
“The Santa Clause House brings the whole community together,” commented Ms. French. “There are so many volunteers that work tirelessly to make this program work. Each year we have more volunteers”
Each child will receive a stocking filled with candy, a candy cane, a picture with Santa and a chance to win one of the weekly drawings for a $100 savings bond and a dozen cookies from Dolce Bakery when they visit the Santa Claus House.

Santa will be available on Fridays from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Saturdays from 11:30am-2:00pm and Sundays from 11:00am-3pm.
