When it comes to healthy food options, there aren’t too many local options available. A majority of people rely on fast food, or snacks, as part of their daily meals and one Milford business, Good News Natural Foods, has set out to change that.

Originally owned by Debbie and Michael Snapp, Good News Natural Foods, opened its first location in Dover, Delaware. In December 2002, the store was purchased by Marcia and Richard Collins along with their friends Sharon and Ray Fields. A frequent customer of the Good News Natural Foods store in Dover, Marcia knew the owners Debbie and Michael Snapp and credits natural foods and supplements, as well as treatment for aiding in her recovery from her battle with breast cancer.

“I always believed that eating the right foods is a good way to stay healthy,” said Collins. “I wanted to help educate people on the importance of eating healthy foods. When the opportunity came, the four of us decided to go for it.”

The success of the Dover location led the owners to purchase a commercial kitchen in Milford where they opened a second Good News Natural Foods Store. This new store allowed the owners to have their own license to prepare their own foods.

Good News Natural Foods offers a wide variety of products and services such as vitamins and supplements, gluten free products, for adults and children. All the food is prepared daily and includes, wheat free and gluten free products, fresh herbs and spices, organic teas, meats, produce, and much more. They also offer a full line of pet supplies and baby products.

The store also offers “Sample Saturdays” in which customers are able to come in and sample a variety of new foods and product lines. They also have complimentary organic teas and coffee samples which are offered daily. Good News Natural Foods customers can call ahead and pick up their purchase in store at 1 North Walnut Street.

“Our main focus is our customers, and being able to provide for them,”said Fields.

For more information on Good News Natural Foods and the wide selection of services visit them online at www.goodnewsnaturalfoods.com or call their downtown Milford location at 302-424-2393.
