When the planning for the CCGM 2nd Annual Expo-Mixer began, the coordinators of the event hoped changing the venue, and the time of year would work out better for vendors and attendees.
Terri Favata and Donna Stalvey, with First Class Properties, did a fantastic planning the event this year, with twenty-nine businesses participating and over forty attendees.
The Expo-Mixer was held at the Milford Senior Center, and with the help from Karen, Kathy, Heather and Bill from the center, the event ran smoothly and we had several people tell us what a great time they had.
Speaking of great…Butch and Linda Elzey, with Troops Barbecue & Catering, donated enough food to feed an army, and everyone enjoyed their cuisine so much they went back for seconds. Troops is a local business, supporting our Armed Forces while offering a lot of homemade specialties including all types of smoked and BBQ meats and enough sides to fill any belly. They cater to parties of all sizes and say, “You Book it, We’ll Cook it”. They offer homemade BBQ sauces too, and will provide specialty foods upon request. Butch says it’s a perfect time to book graduation parties and family reunions. He also says to remember they will do company meetings and picnics, no matter how big or small. For more information about Troops or to book them for your next catering job, call 632.0374 or like them on facebook at www.facebook.com/troops.catering.
Other vendors (all members of the chamber) included Scentsy, Larsons Mower Shop, Kent Sussex Industries, Tunnel & Raysor, Organo Gold Gourmet Coffee & Latte’, Bill Rust Plumbing, Dorey Insurance & Financial Services, Super Eagle Supply, The Heritage at Milford, Reading ASSIST Inst., CNC Solar, PNC Bank, Guided Metamorphosis, Delaware 302, Delaware Open MRI, The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, The Blood Bank of Delmarva, Delmarva SHRM, Under/Comm, WSFS Bank, The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Circle That Date Event Planning and The American Cancer Society.
Vendors brought everything from free giveaways (like cups, pens, candy & stress balls) to literature about their company. They had the opportunity to tell attendees about the goods and services they offer. New member Circle That Date Event Planning even brought a photo booth where attendees could put on provided props, have their picture taken & have a row of keepsake photos from the event. Check out the chamber facebook page and see Alicia, Kathy and Lynn (from KSI) having fun at the photo booth.
Several couples new to the area told Susie they were really glad they attended. There were also non-chamber members in attendance who, after coming to the Expo, spoke with me about joining the chamber.
In addition to the wonderful food, and the wonderful variety of vendors, each business gave a door prize away at the end of the event. Overall it was a wonderful evening full of networking, selling, food and fun. Plans for the 2013 will be underway soon.
