The Eastern States Exposition is commonly known as the “Big E”. The annual New England Fair draws FFA members from 13 states from Maine to Virginia and from Ohio to Maine. Each year, FFA members converge on Springfield, Massachusetts to participate in various FFA activities and competitions. These competitions range from job interview and other speaking events to judging poultry, forestry, and horse judging.

This year was no different. Milford FFA members made the 327 mile trip to Springfield to compete at the “Big E”. All students did an excellent job at representing Milford and Delaware during the Career Development Events (CDEs). Milford had 3 teams competing, Agricultural Mechanics, Forestry and Poultry. In addition, there were 2 individuals who completed in Job Interview and Horse Judging competitions.

The results are as follows: Agricultural Mechanics (Patrick Galloway, Cameron Griffith, Brandi Paquette and Wesley Wilkins) placed 6th; Forestry Team (Mikaela Hermstedt, Candice Reif, Michael Skivers, Mason Torbert) placed 5th; Job interview Individual (Bree Wilkins) placed 3rd; Poultry Judging Team (Colby Miller, Ellie Pittman, Clay Shirey) placed 2nd; Horse Judging Team (Brittany Webb) placed 8th.

Milford FFA advisors, Judith Bruns, Scott Haldeman, Jack Newark, and Chris Stahl are very proud of the students participating as they did an excellent job representing Milford and Delaware. On October 24-27, 18 Milford FFA members will travel to Indianapolis and participate in the national activities and competitions at the National FFA Convention.
