The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club will be hosting their annual Bowl-A-Thon on Friday, March 14 at the Milford Bowling Lanes. This year, participants will have the opportunity to bowl unlimited games from 6pm-11pm, bid on a large selection of silent auction items while helping a great cause. The Bowl-A-Thon will generate funds, secured by each bowler and various sponsors, that will benefit the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club.

Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance and expand the educational, athletic and character building programs offered by club members to local children. Individuals can donate to bowlers, create a team or donate to the cause by downloading the official B&G Club Bowl-A-Thon form at https://new.delawarelive.com/ML/2014/02/16/bg-club-bowl-a-thon-set-for-march-14/.The funds generated by the annual Bowl-A-Thon will be partially matched by the Corporate Board of Boys & Girls Club of Delaware.

“These funds are instrumental in allowing us to provide ongoing scholarship support for children whose families may not be able to fully afford our program fees,” commend Tod VanEyken, Director of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club. “Included in our programs are our Before & After School Care, our art programs, our computer lab programs and our swim programs.”

One of two large annual fundraising events for the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, the Bowl-A-Thon will generate annual operating support from individuals and businesses that will enable Club staff to continue to provide quality program services to over 250 area youth. Programs at the Club are geared toward helping kids develop into productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Celebrating five years in their new location off Airport Road in Milford, the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club has increased its efforts to establish the Milford Club as a community center in the Greater Milford Area. In addition to serving school-aged children, the Club has recently expanded its facility and services to include a full size fitness center, adult basketball and pickleball leagues and water aerobic classes. The Richard Y. Johnson Aquatic Center is also home to the Milford High School Buccaneers Swim Team, the Club’s own Milford Marlins Swim Team and is the only Boys & Girls Club in Delaware to offer swimming scholarships through the Michael Phelps Foundation. These community services are made available to Greater Milford Area residents year-round through support from fundraising events including the Bowl-A-Thon.

“In previous years everyone enjoyed themselves whether bowling, dancing to the music, posing in the photobooth or winning prizes,” commented Mark McDaniel Chairman of the Bowl-A-Thon event committee. “How can anyone go wrong by having a blast participating in a great community event while supporting an organization that provides a solid foundation for many of Milford’s children.”

To secure a ticket for the event, bowlers can register as individuals or as teams of six bowlers. Businesses and individuals can also support the event be becoming a lane, team or event sponsor. Each level will include unique perks from sponsorship signage over the lanes to special recognition on the official Bowl-A-Thon tee shirt.

For further information on how to register, sponsor or donate to the Bowl-A-Thon event, individuals are encouraged to contact Margaux Azzanesi at the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club at 302-422-4453 or by email at Mazzanesi@bgclubs.org.The event is just $35 per bowler and includes All You Can Bowl from 6pm to 11pm, door prizes and silent auction items.
