Milford Police Department Benefit

Lisa and Poncho Johnson will be hosting a wine and cheese tasting event at their home on December 4 to benefit the Milford Police Department.  The event is sponsored and run by “The Friends of the Milford Police Department” and will be held at 3 Haven Lake in Milford from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  This year, with weather permitting, the couple hopes to have part of the event outside on the beautiful veranda that overlooks Haven Lake.

The house itself was featured in Delaware Today in October of 2007 for its beauty and elegance.  Lisa Johnson who is a designer and decorator by profession has done much in order to get the house ready for the event.  Every detail spotlights the holiday spirit from room to room.  The 5,200 square foot house is now used a great deal for entertaining guests and benefiting causes for the community.  Lisa comments that “This house was a blessing that has been given to us. Now we must use that blessing to help others.”

The wine and cheese tasting event is a kick-off for the Toy and Food Drive that the Johnson’s hold each year with help from the Milford Police Department.  Lisa wants to get a head start on collecting these items for the less fortunate because “there will be a need for more gifts and food for local families than ever,” Lisa stated.

Tickets for this event are $25 per person and include a chance of winning prizes from local businesses throughout the community.  There will also be a raffle to win each of the wine and beers tasted that evening and a slab of each cheese that is served.  Those attending the event are encouraged to bring a wrapped gift for a boy or girl ages 2-16 valued at $15.00.  This will help to jump start the Toy Drive that the Johnsons put on later in the month of December.
