The Milford High School Swim Team hosted their first meet at the Greater Milford Boys and Girls Club on Thursday, December 9. The girls’ swim team looked to repeat the season they had last year when they went undefeated in their conference and won the conference tournament. The boys’ swim team looked to improve on last year’s season with some dedication and time spent in the pool. With an unpredicted lose to Cape Henlopen that night the Milford swim team looks to improving their season and repeating the success they have enjoyed in the past. The girls experienced a close loss to Cape 80-90 and the boys 62-108.

The Milford High School Swim team lost 17 seniors since last year but remain very confident in their ability to compete. Coach Michele McKenzie is looking forward to working with the underclassman and is excited to see who will be the emerging talents. “We are working hard with our athletes and excited to see which ones will fill the shoes of those who left the team,” comments Ms. McKenzie.

The coaching staff of Milford, Michele McKenzie and Ashley Huber, are working day and night to ensure that their team remains competitive in the Henlopen Conference. “Our athletes push themselves and give their all every day in that pool. They have very good work ethic but they also have fun at the same time,” stated Ms. Huber.

Athletes to keep an eye on this season include Jordan Lingo, Jesse McCormick and Ethan Reichold from the boy’s team and Lexi Coon, Alisa Sanders and Aly Sanders on the girl’s team. The Milford High School Swim Meets are usually held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Great Milford Boys and Girls Club.
