Milford High School’s boys’ swim team traveled to Dover on Thursday to take on the Dover High Senators in the water.   The Bucs mustered a 91-75 victory over their competition.

The Bucs (3-2) had just two days earlier squeezed out a one-point victory over Caravel Academy.  Despite the grueling schedule, Milford had its “best meet of the year,” according to senior Craig Hall.

Milford won several crucial victories, including two races by senior Jordan Lingo who won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of one minute, 51 seconds and the 500 yard freestyle in a time  just under five minutes.  The 500-yard race, the longest of the events, equates to a grueling 20 laps in a 25-yard long pool.

Milford also won two more single events by junior Jesse McCormick (50 yard freestyle, 25:33) and junior Ethan Reichold who topped the 100-yard backstroke with a time of just over 1:15.

Milford’s relay teams also performed strongly as the group of Lingo, McCormick, Reichold, along with junior Cody Scott won the 200-yard medley. Meanwhile, Lingo, McCormick, Scott and sophomore James Hagan took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Milford will be swimming at home at the Milford Boys and Girls Club next week against Appoquinimink High School on Jan. 11 and Caesar Rodney High School on Jan. 13.  Meets begin at 3:30 p.m.
