According to Staley, Milford’s Got Talent will be open for up to eight entertainers in three age categories: under 13 years old, 13-18 years old and over 18 years old. Whether you sing, dance or play a musical instrument, the competition is open to any performer. However, entertainers must limit their performance to five minutes, have no more than five people per act, and perform material that is suitable for a “family audience.” A qualifying round will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 in the Milford Middle School Auditorium, immediately following a barbecued pork and chicken dinner in the school’s cafeteria starting at 5:00 p.m. The top three finalists from each of the three age groups in the qualifying round will perform in the finals, to be held on the fairgrounds outside the Milford Middle School on Saturday, May 21 at 2:30 p.m. Complete rules and an application can be picked up from the Milford Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, 21 West Clarke Ave., Milford. Applications must be submitted by May 16, 2011.
The Milford’s Got Talent contest will highlight two days of fun from the 54th Annual Milford Memorial Hospital Fair, sponsored by PNC Bank, Richard Y. Johnson, and the Fannin family. In addition to the dinner and talent show qualifying round on Friday, May 20, the Hospital Fair moves into full swing on Saturday, May 21, with opening ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. and then continues until 4:00 p.m. “The Third Annual Great Tricycle Race,” will be run at noon. The entire family will be able to enjoy a Civil War re-enactment, children’s games, ice skating rink, rides and inflatables, a petting zoo, great food, crafts, and vendors’ booths, as well as a full schedule of entertainment throughout the day. The hospital fair raffle will give you the chance to win great prizes including a two night stay for two at the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth, dinner for two at Salt Air Farm and Table, and massages for two at Bad Hair Day. Other raffle prizes include an original watercolor “Geraniums in Watering Can” by Catherine Serwalt, plus dinner for two at five of Delaware’s finest restaurants: Abbott’s Grill, Bethany Blues, Kindle, Restaurant 55 and Georgia House. Raffle tickets will be $2 each or six tickets for $10 and may be purchased in the Reflections Gift Shop or by calling (302) 233-8448. The winning tickets will be drawn at the Fair.
Each year, the Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary sponsors the Fair to raise money to fund vital programs and purchase lifesaving equipment for Milford Memorial Hospital. Net proceeds from this year’s Fair will be used to purchase a new dialysis machine for the Dialysis Department.
