State Rep. Jack Peterman joined with the Delaware National Guard Retired Officers’ Association in honoring a fallen World War II veteran. Second Lieutenant Howard C. Wilkins was co-piloting a B-24 Liberator that was shot down on July 3, 1944 during a bombing mission over Romania. He and seven of his crewmates perished in the crash. Lieutenant Wilkins’ nephew, Howard C. Wilkins II, was presented with a House of Representatives Tribute by Rep. Peterman as well as a piece of the wreckage from the B-24 flown by his late uncle, which was recently recovered from the crash site. The presentation was made during a ceremony at the Carlisle Fire Company Hall in Milford on May 6th.
