Veronica Hoffman, owner of Miss Q’s Bar and Billiards, took over the establishment in April 2010 with the hope to create a fun, safe place where individuals over 21 could relax and enjoy themselves. Being a patron of the previous watering hole herself, Veronica felt the business was headed in the wrong direction and attracting the wrong crowd to Milford. It was this concern that finalized her decision to purchase the business and build a new identity known as Miss Q’s that offered a safe, clean environment where the prices were low and the crowd was welcoming.
“The previous bar had a reputation and stigma of being like fight club. No one fights here and everyone gets along. I would describe the new bar as the local neighborhood Cheers,” commented Veronica.
The bar offers 6 pool tables where several pool leagues play three nights a week; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The pool leagues are certified by the American Pool Association and the Billiards Congress of America. Miss Q’s also has dart boards and will be holding Wii nights where patrons can challenge each other on Nintendo Wii games.
“I want people to walk through the door and feel comfortable,” stated Veronica. “ I want people to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and realize it is not that bar anymore that it used to be.”
She has also taken the bar in a new direction when it comes to community service. Veronica and her staff host events that support local families. One example is the Bike Run benefit which will be held on July 30. It was established last year to raise funds for a local individual who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Monies raise by the event went to help pay for his hospital bills. This year the benefit will help cover expenses for Sailor Hayes, a young child in the community who has been diagnosed with the same disease. Veronica has also held several car washes in the parking lot of the establishment to raise money for the Boy Scouts of America organization.
“It’s not always about the money. You have to give back to your community and help each other out,” commented Veronica. “If we do not do it, who will?”
Miss Q’s Bar and Billiards also offers non-alcoholic cocktails and beers for patrons to encourage responsible drinking. For Veronica it is about allowing her customers to have fun and relax in a safe environment.
Miss Q’s is open 7 nights a week from 4pm – 1am and offers live entertainment every Saturday night. The bands play rock, classical rock, blues and some jazz. It is located at 207 NE Front St, (14) Riverwalk Center. Veronica and her staff can be reached at 302-430-0729.
