Delaware Hospice 5k Fun for All

On Thursday, July 14 Delaware Hospice held its second annual Hospice’s 5K (3.1 Mile) Run and Family Fun Walk at their Milford Facility just off of Airport Road. There were over 200 participants at this year’s event as they enjoyed a 77 degree and overcast afternoon. The 5k course wrapped around the Milford facility and included sites such as the Delaware Veterans Hospital and the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club.

“We had a great turnout this year for the event,” commented event coordinator Peggy Dolby. “Most people stayed around afterwards for the festivities and ad a lot of fun.”

After the 5K race, awards were presented to overall male and female finishers and the top three in 10-year age groups from 13 & under to 70 +, as well as to the top three male and female walkers. Runners, walkers and supporters enjoy the post-race party, including a live broadcast of Eagle 97.7 FM.

Taking first place overall in the race was 16 year old Carl Richardson of Milford with a time of 18:24. First Overall Female was 15 year old Alexis Groce of Harrington with a time of 23:01.
