Governor Markell has declared a State of Emergency for the State of Delaware as of 6pm. On a media conference call this afternoon the Governor stated that they are predicting damage from extreme winds and flooding across the State of Delaware. The Governor urged the evacuation of all coastal areas immediately.

Emergency Officials will be keeping a constant eye on the forecast to determine whether a full evacuation will be necessary. Governor Markell stated that residents should be prepared for a possible full evacuation of residents on Friday.

The Delaware National Guard and Delaware State Police will be helping before the storm, during any evacuation procedures and in the aftermath of the storm. Shelters will begin to open tomorrow morning. State officials will be releasing the location of those shelters later tonight.
