Greenfest Invades Delaware

The Home Builders Association of Delaware will be hosting Greenfest on Sunday, September 18 at Legislative Mall in Dover. Attendees can expect to increase their awareness of eco-friendly products and services, enjoy live music and learn details about eco-fashion and energy savings tips.

Just one of many programs and events the Home Builders Association of Delaware offer, the Greenfest continues their tradition of helping individuals and businesses in continuing education and networking opportunities. They serve as a consumer information resource offering an online directory and public service announcements. Among other events this year, the Home Builders Association of Delaware is approaching their 20th annual Delaware Home Show and will also spearhead the Green to Green program which offers up to $5,000 in rebates to home buyers who choose to buy a certified green home.

With Green expos becoming more popular the Home Builders Association of Delaware hopes to produce a genuine concept of holistic living and eco-friendly consciousness among Delawareans.

“We believe Delaware should be identified with this movement,” commented Jennifer Casey, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Delaware. “…but consumers need to be educated on what is truly ‘green’ and what is simply a marketing ploy. In order to resonate with future generations, the movement not only needs to be fun and accessible for the entire community but needs to become ingrained in the local culture, thus the reason for a spectrum of community performances, live bands, arts, and even a fashion show.”

Among the information that will be available at Greenfest the Home Builders Association of Delaware will offer free educational seminars from Kent County Master Gardeners on native plants, Delaware Nature Society on the Back Yard Wildlife Habitat and information on the Green to Green Rebate.

There is expected to be a large crowd at the 2nd annual Greenfest this year due to increasing support from local businesses, media outlets and individuals. The Greenfest will be held in Dover on Sunday, September 18 from 11am to 4pm at Legislative Mall. The event will include kid’s activities, an eco-friendly fashion show and a large number of vendors who support the growing green movement in Delaware.
