Diabetes Academy will be offered on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Milford Public Library in the Lions Meeting Room located on the main level.

Nina Pletcher, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator employed by Novo Nordisk in Princeton, N.J. will present the free program that helps people with diabetes learn how to manage their disease. The program includes basic diabetes information and terminology as well as tips for how to stay healthy with diabetes.

November is National Diabetes Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, one out of every 12 Americans has diabetes. That is about 26 million people. However, nearly 6 million don’t know it. In 2007, 1.6 million newly diagnosed people with diabetes were in their 20’s.

Light refreshments will be served. The Library staff suggests that free parking is available across from the Library behind PNC Bank.
