Wednesday November 9th during an Ambassadors Meeting we were talking about the 5th Annual Holiday Auction & Tastes of Milford when one of the committee members blurted out that she couldn’t believe it was only a few days away.

The 2011 Holiday Auction & Tastes of Milford Committee had a few obstacles along the way, like two key Del-One Employees being out on maternity leave and Shawnee Country Club General Manager Trisha Marney having an emergency gall bladder operation, however the event is going on as planned and shaping up quite well.

Auction items are still coming in and tickets are still being sold, however the “Tastes of” Vendors are confirmed and excited about participating again. In case you may have missed the listing of vendors, they include Abbott’s Grill, The Georgia House, LeLoLi Espresso Bar & Café, The Carlisle Fire Company Woman’s Auxiliary, Delaware Hospice Center, The Heritage at Milford, Grotto’s, Mr. Bar-B-Que, Nick & Charlie’s and Walmart. You can expect everything from savory to sweet from these area restaurants, cafes and caterers, while learning about their menu and services.

Several of the food vendors donated gift cards, which can be found in one basket with a value close to $300.00. Talk about a great holiday gift!
The auction items are really nice, and CCGM Administrative Assistant, Susie Avalos and I are trying to figure out how we can make bids while working. We both agree our husbands will be more excited about the tastes, so we’re on our own when it comes to the auction items.

The event is in Milford, and you can tell by some of the items donated. If you’re a Milford Bucs fan, there’s a huge basket filled with all kinds of goodies from every school in the district. The Milford Museum and Milford Historical Society put together a basket full of books and CD’s all about Milford, and the Mispillion Art League donated a watercolor painting of Milford City Hall.

Some other recent donations include two different baskets each filled with hair products from Redken, Paul Mitchell and Matrix. There’s a basket full of beautiful glass wear, to go along with baskets full of food and adult beverages great for entertaining.

If you’re feeling patriotic there’s a beautiful bald eagle and American Flag statue. There are also his and her watches, his and her sun glasses and for him or her a round of golf from Shawnee Country Club and an indoor pool party from the AmericInn.
If you want to get out of town for a day, bid on the tickets to New York City donated by Jor-Lin Tours.

If you’re into art you’ll love the pieces from Sussex County Federal Credit Union and Artisans’ Bank. There are many other silent and live auction items not listed, however if you’re interested what the items are you can contact the chamber by phone or email.
You can still get tickets for the Thursday November 17th event. Remember it’s being held at the Shawnee Country Club and runs from 6:00 p.m. until the Live Auction is over.
