On November 17, at Harrington Casino, representatives from 32 Delaware organizations were awarded financial grants by the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation. The Foundation, developed to consolidate the charitable undertakings of Delaware State Fair, Inc. and Harrington Raceway, Inc., supports Delaware-based organizations and charitable, educational, and scientific endeavors which address the wide range of issues, including: health and human services, the arts, agriculture, education, and the environment.
Howell F. Wallace, President of the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation, says “We are so very proud to award financial grants to these deserving organizations so they are able to continue to reach out and affect so many members of our community during these dire economic times. Every recipient honored here today tires long and hard to ensure the quality of life for so many in our downstate communities.”
Mr. Wallace along with the presiding officers and directors distributed grants to 32 organizations including the Santa’s Workshop /Bookaneers program at the Milford School District. The mission of Milford High School is to provide a high quality school education to students enabling them to further their education and have the skills for a career.
Funds will be used to aid two student service projects hosted by Milford High School, Santa’s Workshop and Bookaneers. Bookaneers is a program where high school students volunteer their time to serve as reading buddies to elementary school students leading up to Santa’s Workshop which is a celebration of reading and its importance.
For any organization interested in applying for 2012 consideration, proposals must be submitted via the official Mid-Del Charitable Foundation grant application form which is now available.
