If you’re like me each holiday season you start your list, not caring who’s been naughty or nice, but knowing you have to get gifts for a bunch of people regardless of how they’ve acted all year. At the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford we add members to the Be Loyal Buy Local Program all year long, however at this time of year we really want to stress the importance of keeping your shopping dollars local.

Do you realize that over 60% of the money spent in our community will stay here, keeping businesses open and residents employed? You may also be like me and have several people on your list that are really hard to buy for…or so you think. I’ve realized if I just take a little bit of time, and a little bit of creativity I can complete my list in no time by looking through the chamber membership directory in the Quality Living Book, or on the chamber website.
Since I’m in the holiday spirit I’m going to help you get your list done early with a few ideas you may not have thought about. I can’t list all the chamber members because there are far too many; however once I mention a few you can get your creative juices flowing too and add to my list.

Remember too, if you have any questions about chamber members, their products or services give us a call and we’ll do the best we can to help you out. My first stop this year was at Blooming Boutique on N. Walnut Street where I found the cutest expandable back scratcher for my husband. You never know what you’ll find at Blooming Boutique as they have a lot to choose from. While you’re downtown can walk over to Bike’s Etc. where Jack will make sure the bike enthusiast on your list gets the right thing. You can also go to the Georgia House, Park Place, Miss Q’s and Abbott’s Grill, La Ortalana Pizza, Good News Natural Health Food Store, Grotto’s (a few blocks out) and pick-up Gift Cards for people like me who never have money in their wallet but like to eat out.

How about a nice piece of artwork from the Mispillion Art League, or an annual subscription to Second Street Players?
While you’re still downtown shopping, for the person on your list who is ready to begin a healthy lifestyle get them a membership at Extreme Total Fitness.

If you have “sporty” people on your list who like to swim head out to the Boys & Girls Club and get them a pool membership. If they like bowling, Milford Bowling Lanes has accessories and gift cards too. Or if they like to fish contact Dave at Russell’s Charter Fishing. Southern States on Rt. 14 is a wonderful place to shop for the entire family that you might not think of off the top of your head. They have everything from boots to tools, and lots of things for your pets.

Speaking of pets, Concord Pets has everything you need for your critters, from food to toys.
If you feel safe getting gift cards, and not just for food establishments, other wonderful gift card ideas include the Duck Inn Car Wash, Fish Window Cleaning, King’s Tire, Attitude’s Medi-Spa, Kent-Sussex Auto Care, Holiday Hair and One Stop Auto.

For jewelry you must go to E.K.A. Jewelers in the Airpark Plaza. Bob will help you with gifts for guys and gals, young and old. Head to the other end of the Airpark Plaza and get cell phones and accessories at TDP Wireless Zone.
Bayhealth Medical Center has a wonderful gift shop in the hospital, and at Gooden’s Floral Lora will hook you up with beautiful holiday arrangements, poinsettias and more.

Don’t forget i.g.Burton and Hertrich’s Accessory Departments. There are all sorts of cool things for gift giving from coffee mugs to bed liners. Don’t forget to get your coffee and sweets at LeLoLi Café & Espresso Bar & down the road in the Milford Plaza stop in and see what Mama Maria’s Italian Restaurant has to offer.
Guided Metamorphosis and Massage by Hand can help you with those on your list needing some pampering and stress relief.

If you don’t like to go to a store to shop contact Jeanie with Mia Bella Candles, Nancy with Mary Kay Cosmetics, Kathy with Tastefully Simple and Wendy with Avon. They’ll let you shop by phone or visit you personally. If you’re not sure what to get, they ask the right questions to make sure you get the right gift.

If you want to shop on line for babies, visit mybambino.com and they’ll personalize your gift.
Keep in mind the chamber has members that offer all types of services that people need all year long, yet sometimes don’t have the money to invest, or don’t know who to call. You can take that added stress away from them by contacting one of the many CCGM members that will take care of your computer needs, bookkeeping, accounting, taxes, legal matters, contracting, yard work and so much more. Of course we have a super Walmart in Milford, so you always have that option too, and can shop late hours since they never seem to close.

Remember to shop local, and if you want to send your gifts out of town The Mail Center can take care of all your shipping needs. There you have it! Not a complete list of all CCGM members and what they have to offer for holiday gift giving; however this should get you on your way.For more information contact the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford at 422.3344 or visit www.milfordchamber.com.
