Milford Business Woman Seeks DE Lt. Governor’s Office


Sher Valenzuela, Vice President of First State Manufacturing Inc. and Chairwoman of the Economic Development Advisory Panel for the City of Milford, announced last week that she will be seeking the office of Lieutenant Governor in the state of Delaware in 2012.

As Vice President of First State Manufacturing Inc., Sher Valenzuela facilitates a local Milford business that manufactures seat cushions, engine covers, ground service covers and various textile assemblies for government and commercial customers. Serving a spectrum of customers including A.I duPont Hospital for Children, Dover Downs and the U.S. Department of Defense , First State Manufacturing produces a number of industrial products for the V-22 Osprey aircraft, the M1A1 tank and the black hawk helicopter.

Recently, the company has constructed a new facility on South East Front Street across from the Milford Little League Fields and has developed the First State Moves the Nation Small Business Accelerator that aims to provide a trained and skilled workforce ready to fill the needs of the manufacturing industry in Delaware.

Sher will be running on the Republican ticket this year alongside Jeff Cragg who will be running for the office of Governor. Running against incumbents Governor Jack Markell and Lieutenant Matt Denn these two new faces to the political scene will have their work cut out for them come this November. The last Republican Governor to serve a full term in Delaware was Michael N. Castle who left office December, 31 1992.
