January birthdays – 1/16, Martin Luther King, Jr. – Civil Rights Activist – Famous Speech, I Have a Dream. 1/17 – Benjamin Franklin – Founding Father – First Library, Published Poor Richard’s Almanac 1/18 – A. A. Milne – Creator of Winnie-the-Pooh, Father of Christopher Robin. Raymond Briggs – Author of the British Classic The Snowman. 1/29 – Rosemary Wells – Creator of Max and Ruby.

*Family Stages will present That Fabulous Franklin, Saturday, January 14, at 11:00a.m., a play about America’s wise and witty founding father, Benjamin Franklin. This fun-filled look at Ben Franklin’s past gives us a lesson for the present and inspiration for the future. The show is designed for the entire family.

Ben and the Book Worms – Be a Book Worm and Learn!. Young Readers Book Worms (Grades K-3) will read Now & Ben: The Modern Inventions of Benjamin Franklin. Stop by the library and check out a copy, read it, and join us on 1/26 at 4:00p.m. for discussion, activities, and a story related snack. The Book Worms (Grades 3-5) will read Ben and Me: An Astonishing LIFE of BENJAMIN FRANKLIN By His Good Mouse AMOS, Discovered, Edited & Illustrated by ROBERT LAWSON, and will meet on 1/30, at 6:30p.m.

Help the birds out this winter and make bird feeders with us on January 18 at 4:00p.m.

Put on your P.J.’s and join us for Bedtime Story Hour on 1/27 at 6:30p.m. Bring along your blanket, pillow pal, teddy bear, or whatever makes you comfy!

Keep warm this winter. . . wear your mittens! Children ages 3-6 are invited to join us for Story Hour on 1/3 for Mitten Match. Don’t forget your mittens! Soup’s On! Warm up your insides on 1/10. Parents bring in your favorite soup recipes to share. Help us celebrate Ben Franklin’s birthday on 1/17. Wear your party clothes on 1/24; we’re having a Pooh Party! Bring along a friend from the 100 acre wood. Winter is here so Let it Snow! Story Hour on 1/31 will be all about snow. Story Hour is held every Tuesday at 10:30a.m. and 4:00p.m.

Children ages 1 & 2 can toddle on over to Toddler Time every Thursday morning at 10:30a.m. Wear your mittens to Toddler Time on Thursday 1/5. We’ll warm up our insides on 1/12 with rhymes and songs. 1,2,3. . .It’s All About Me! We’ll learn about our bodies on 1/19 with songs and rhymes. It will be Me & You & a Bear Named Pooh on 1/26. Bring along a friend from the 100 acre wood.
