Edmondson Competes at Youth America Grand Prix

Anna Edmondson, of Milford DE, competed at the Youth America Grand Prix Semi-Finals in Philadelphia, PA on January 13th. Youth America Grand Prix is the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition. Each year over 5,000 talented students from across the globe audition at semi-final rounds. YAGP’s reputation as a showcase for dance students is such that even passing the preliminary round gives participants an important distinction and boost to their professional dance career. At 13 years of age, Anna is still in the junior age division, but even at that level competition is stiff. Anna trains at First State Academy of Dance, under Michele Xiques. Ms. Xiques has been coaching Anna privately on her solo variation for months to prepare. “We are training students to aspire to the nation and international level. The arts are demanding. That work ethic will help our students succeed in anything they choose to accomplish with their lives,” states Michele Xiques, owner of First State Academy of Dance, and Artistic Director of Delaware Dance Alliance.
