Milford Pop Warner Sees Eight Make Eastern Regional All-Academic Team

 The Milford Lil’ Bucs will be well represented this year at the Pop Warner Eastern Region Scholar Team banquet in New Jersey. Eighth grader Phil Herber, 7th grader William Kimmel, 6th graders, Kendra Kimmey and Dayton Meding, as well as 5th graders Trevor Mitchell, Faith Hurd, Keegan Andersen, and Mary Torbert were selected based on their academic success as well as community service.  The Eastern Region includes Delaware, Maryland, D.C., New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York.  The top 35 football players and top 35 Cheer & Dance members from the Eastern Region are selected at each grade level.  According to its’ website, Pop Warner is the only national youth organization that requires an academic requirement to participate. A minimum of a 2.0 GPA has to be earned to play football, cheer, or dance.  To be eligible for the Scholar Team, participants must carry a GPA of 96 or better for a full school year plus be active in their community.
