B&G Club Kick Off Annual One Campaign

Margaux Azzanesi, Regional Development Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of DE with Ed Steiner, One Campaign Chairperson for the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club

The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club will kick off their annual One Campaign on Thursday, February 16 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Milford Boys and Girls Club facility off Airport Road. The campaign raises critical funds in support of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club’s educational and youth development programs. All funds raised during this effort will be matched dollar for dollar by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Ed Steiner, Chairman of the One Campaign. Ed has supported the Boys & Girls Club for many years, formerly serving on the Capital Campaign committee which raised funds to build the new facility on Airport Road.

His reason for joining the Boys & Girls Club family comes from his desire to see a safe place for all children after school; a place where they can work on their homework, enhance their social skills and develop leadership qualities.

“It strikes me that for a lot of kids in the community there are not a lot of ways for them to reach their full potential,” commented Mr. Steiner. “The Boys and Girls Club offers them those opportunities that may not otherwise be there.”

Understanding the critical role that the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club plays in the surrounding community, Ed volunteered to chair the Annual One Campaign this year and facilitate the large fundraising effort.

“It is necessary to demonstrate that there is a broad-based and significant support for the Club through the One Campaign,” stated Mr. Steiner. “This organization deserves to be a priority in this community.”

This year’s event will be an evening event rather then a kick off breakfast, which has been held in the past. The event is open to the public and individuals are encouraged to tour the facility including the gymnasium, pool area and newly created fitness room.

“We are excited to kick off the One Campaign this year,” commented Dorian Mendez-Vaz, Executive Director of the Greater Milford Boys and Girls Club. “We have created so many new opportunities for community children and are thrilled to welcome the public to enjoy an evening at the Club.”

The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club’s One Campaign focuses on generating annual operating support from individuals and businesses that will enable the staff to continue to provide quality program services to area youth.

The One Campaign runs through June 2012 with a goal of $150,000. Those interested in supporting the One Campaign should contact Margaux Azzanesi, Regional Development Director at (302) 422-4453 or mazzanesi@bgclubs.org.
