Little Fingers Exploring Art with Stephen Cannon

Small children will have fun making friends while they explore shapes, colors, textures, and patterns. Finger paints, crayons, tempera paint, and clay will be used during class. (Parent must accompany) Stephen Cannon holds a degree in arts education and has extensive experience and fabulous disposition working with children. Class is open to children ages 3 to 5 years. Session 1 runs from March 5 through March 26. Session 2 begins April 2 and runs through April 30. All classes run on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. Cost of each four-week session is $50.

Papier Mache’ Mask Making with Stephen Cannon

This class for elementary and middle school students explores the fun experience of papier mache. Week one will begin by examining what masks are used for. Students will be challenged to create masks of their own design. Using shredded paper, water, and glue paste each class member will be able to make masks for dance, comedy, celebration, and ceremony. Students of any skill level are encouraged to join in the fun! Instructor, Stephen Cannon, received his BA in Art Education from Delaware State University.

The class runs on Tuesdays for four weeks beginning March 6. Class for students in grades 1 – 3 runs from 4 to 5 p.m. while students in grades 4 to 6 have class from 5:15 to 6:15. Cost is $50 MAL student members and $60 for non-members. Please register by March 1. All classes are held at the art league’s gallery in Milford.

Creative Hand building with Clay with Maria Sadler

Learn basic construction techniques and surface treatment for hand-rolled clay. Use stamps and items from nature in a fun, relaxed classroom environment. The class begins February 12 and runs for three weeks from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Weeks 1 & 2- Explore & Create. Week 3- Decorate finished (bisque-fired) pieces using commercial glazes. Instructor, Maria Sadler is an accomplished potter. Cost is $80 MAL members/ $95 for non-members. Classes are held at the art league gallery in Milford.

Faux Finishes & Trompe d’oeil

Students in this fun and functional class will explore the art of creating the illusion of a wood or marble grain on a small object & the illusion of another item on top. A box, frame, or small object of their choosing will be completed in the workshop. Visual samples & practice boards will be provided. Linda Chatfield is an experienced artist who enjoys teaching a variety of media. The class runs Friday, March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring lunch on Saturday.Cost is $70 MAL members/ $85 for non-members. Register by Feb. 27.

Make a Smocked Easter Egg Ornament

Learn the art of smocking with master seamstress, Diane Deeney. In this class students will create an attractive Easter egg ornament using 3 basic stitches. Materials provided. Classes run for two weeks on Thursday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 25, from 1-3 p.m. Cost is $45 MAL members and $60 for non-members.

Oil Painting- Classical Realism with John Schisler

Participants will learn the oil painting techniques of the Dutch Masters through the use of Maroger Medium. They will develop skills in basic oil painting using form and color to create compositions

working from still life. (Materials list available upon registration)Classes run on Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m. for four weeks, starting on Mar 5. Cost is $80 MAL members/$95 for non-members. Register by Mar. 1
