Police did not submit photo of Mr. Dempsey

On Sunday, April 15 at approximately 1146 hrs, an officer from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division was conducting traffic enforcement on Route 1 at Route 36, when he observed a yellow four wheeler travelling northbound on Route 1.  The officer pulled onto Route 1, activated all emergency equipment, and attempted to stop the four wheeler.  The operator William T. Dempsey, 25 of New Castle, refused to stop and eventually headed eastbound on New Wharf Road.  Shortly after turning onto New Wharf Road, Mr. Dempsey attempted to drive through the yard of a home, when he struck a fixed object and ejected from the four wheeler.  Mr. Dempsey was transported to Bayhealth in Milford, where he is being treated for non life threatening injuries.  Mr. Dempsey was also found to be in possession of 1.5 grams of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Warrants have been obtained for Mr. Dempsey for 11 traffic related offenses, along with possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.
