On Monday, April 23 the City of Milford honored Vivian F. Ginn for meritorious service to the people of Milford. Before moving to Milford in January 2006, Ms. Ginn volunteered at numerous women’s shelters and orphanages.
While raising two sons on her own, Vivian committed countless hours as a volunteer mentor to our nation’s soldiers. She received the distinct honor of being named the employee of the year at Fort Monroe, Virginia and continues to dedicate her efforts to local organizations such as the Carlisle Fire Company and Elks Lodge No. 2401. Ginn was presented the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award for Outstanding and Meritorious Service by Milford Lodge and the Grand Lodge Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks on March 31, 2012.
“An award is the furthest thing from my imaginatio
n when I came here tonight, I am totally taken,” commented Ms. Ginn. “I don’t know what more any woman can expect in a lifetime.”
The proclamation given to Vivian by Milford City Council stated that Ms. Ginn is always willing to give herself to others who can benefit from her life-learned experiences as she consistently demonstrates her unfailing support and assistance in providing a voice and help for those in less than fortunate circumstances. She has been so willingly devoted over the years as a volunteer on various committees, organizations and humanitarian efforts. She has identified herself as not only a person of character and humility but also as a compassionate, caring human willing to give to others unconditionally.
In appreciation of her efforts to ensure vitality of the Milford community, Mayor Rogers proclaimed that the week of April 22 – April 28, 2012 be declared “Vivian F. Ginn Appreciation Week” in the City of Milford.
