The garden of Pina Kafantaris of Elk Lodge Road, Lincoln has been selected for the Milford Garden Club’s “Beautification Award” for the month of May.
Pina moved to the area nine years ago with her husband. Their acre lot was completely empty and Pina developed her passion for gardening into a highly developed sanctuary for plants and birds. As she says, her “addiction” for gardening has lead to over 70 types of plants with many subdivisions, trees and shrubs. Most are grown in containers as Pina says, “I do not like weeds.” Birds are also very important to her and she devotes shelter, habitat and food to the birds.
As one meanders through her walkways and paths there are numerous arbors, benches and statuary to enhance her gardens. Pina has completely transformed her empty acre into a beautiful experience.
