Kids Fest Will Fill the Fairgrounds With Fun

Families and kids in this area can look forward to Saturday, June 9, when the 15th Annual Kids Fest will bring six hours of entertainment, activity, information and just plain fun to the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.

Kids will enjoy moon bounces and slides, engage in arts and crafts, investigate the possibilities of “Mad Science” and more. A number of special hands-on activities will help celebrate “National Get Outdoors Day”, and a “Healthy Kids Expo” will provide information and education to encourage healthy lifestyles. Free entertainment will be on tap all day.

Kids Fest begins with the 2nd Annual Be Great 5K Run/Walk and special kids races on the track at the fairgrounds . A TriSports Events Championship Series Event, the 5K begins at 9 a.m. with races for kids and adults of all ages. Registration for the 5K is $20 in advance (up through June 2) and $25 thereafter. Special races for kids, which are free, will start at 10:30 a.m. These include a 50 Yard Dash for children 5 and under, a Quarter Mile Run for kids 6 to 10, and a One Mile Run for those 11 to 14.

An all day festival continuing through 4 p.m., Kids? Fest is a family friendly and affordable event. Admission is free for children and $3 for adults; parking is free. Ride and game tickets may be pur- chased at 25 for $5; some activities are individually priced, and many, including all entertainment, are free. A variety of food will be for sale throughout the day.
