Rocha Charged With Attempted Rape

On 06-09-2012 the Milford Police Department’s Criminal Division arrested Gaston E. Rocha, 18 of Milford, following an investigation into an attempted sexual assault. On 06-09-2012, at approx 0303 hrs, officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Montgomery Street (Sussex County) to a report of a male who had entered a residence and began to inappropriately touch the 3 year old victim. At that point the 51 year old victim was awaken and began to struggle with Mr. Rocha. Mr. Rocha was able to flee the residence prior to officers arrival. Shortly following the arrival of officers, Mr. Rocha’s identity was learned and he was later taken into custody at a residence on Cedarwood Avenue in Milford. Mr. Rocha was not known to either victim according to the information obtained by Detectives. Mr. Rocha has been charged with Attempted Rape 1st degree, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Burglary 2nd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Indecent Exposure. Mr. Rocha was arraigned at JP Court #3 in Georgetown, where bail was set at $63,000.00 secured, along with a No Contact Order with the victim’s. Mr. Rocha was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution and is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing on June 14th at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
