The First State Harmonizers Chorus, as part of their Youth in Harmony Program, awarded five scholarships to Milford High School singers, and their choral director to attend the “Harmony College East & Youth Harmony Camp” at Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD, June 14-17, 2012.

Milford High School choral recipients are Chandler Benson-Reid, Jill Cartwright, Donique Hughes, A. J. Legree and Alison VanVorst. They will be accompanied by Milford High School Choral Director, Kathy Wetherhold. Approximately 200 – 300 singers and choral directors from six surrounding states are expected to participate in this year’s camp.

“This three day immersive camp is often called the greatest weekend for a cappella singing on the East Coast,” stated Harry Humes of the First State Harmonizers.

Top vocal and performance coaches from across the United States and Canada provide classes and coaching for individual singers, quartets, ensemble singers, choruses, directors and prospective directors. Participants can select from a number of individual classes or enter a “learning track” that pre-packages classes meeting the needs of a participant’s area of interest. The Harmony College East & Youth Harmony Camp is held each year at Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland.
