Spontaneous Invention Plays Abbott’s Jazz Dinner

Abbott’s Grill is continuing their Jazz Dinner Series on Friday, June 22 featuring Dave Schiff and the Spontaneous Invention (Dave Schiff, Joe Holt, Mike McShane). Inspired by the Supper Clubs of the 1940?s and 50?s, the Jazz Series is about great music in an intimate setting, combined with an elegant 3-course dinner.

Dave Schiff is an accomplished jazz tenor sax player that performs funk, straight ahead and smooth jazz. A versatile woodwind instrumentalist, Dave had played worldwide with jazz legends including Thad Jones, Mel Lewis Orchestra, Don Menza and Dizzy Gillespie. Mr. Schiff has also performed with world renowned artists such as Barry Manilow, Tony Bennet, Frank Sinatra Jr. and Natalie Cole. He is a veteran of the Navy Band Jazz Ensemble “The Commodores” and is active with mentoring young musicians.

“We are looking forward to playing with a fun audience at Abbott’s Grill,” commented Dave Schiff. “ I hope the audience takes away with a better understanding of jazz music. To me jazz is America’s classical music.”

This event is the latest feature in Abbott’s Grill’s continuing effort to provide the Milford community with personal, interactive entertainment experiences. To date, they have highlighted artists Gaynell Rose, Eddie Sherman and Peggy Raley.

“We’re so excited to be up and running with this dinner series,” commented organizer of this event Karen Stauffer.  “With such a great array of local music acts, we really wanted to showcase some of the more original, upscale and jazz acts that we can’t quite book in our Pub on a Friday night.  Our first two event were so much fun, and by the end of it people were up out of their seats and dancing.  I think the combination of a great dinner and getting to be part of such a small, intimate musical performance makes for a really special, unique night out.”

This event will be held in our private dining room, in small tables gathered around our stage.  Guests can book a table for anywhere up to 8 guests.  Each tickets is $65 per person and includes a 3-course dinner, performance, 2 alcoholic beverages and gratuity.  The evening will begin with a reception and hors d’oeuvres at 6:00pm, followed by 2 sets of music during which dinner and dessert will be served. Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Click the link below, or contact us at (302)491-6736.
