Downtown Dinner & Theatre July 14

By Steve Twilley

Enjoy delicious dining and hilarious live theatre entertainment on Saturday, July 14 when Second Street Players’ presents an evening of Dinner&Theatre. The special combination package features a buffet dinner at downtown Milford’s Georgia House, followed by Second Street Players’ summer comedy, Run For Your Wife.

Everything gets underway at 6 pm in Georgia House’s private upstairs dining room, located at 18 S. Walnut Street in Milford. The dinner buffet will feature seafood specialties, homemade creations, delectable side dishes, and plenty of southern-style hospitality. A cash bar is available beginning at 6 o’clock with dinner served at 6:30. Make sure to save room for some of Georgia House’s delectable desserts.

After dinner take the short stroll over to Riverfront Theatre for Run For Your Wife, a fast-paced comedy romp directed by Tommye Staley. The play begins promptly at 8 pm and features unassuming cab driver John Smith who has two wives in two homes in two towns…and a very precise schedule for juggling it all. Lie is piled upon lie, laugh is piled upon laugh in this hilariously sexy and ridiculously physical farce.

Denis Stanton from Dover plays the slightly befuddled cabbie and Jerry Cox is his unemployed upstairs neighbor, Stanley. John’s two wives, Mary and Barbara, are played by Kristen Boehmer and Maria Fry. Rounding out the cast are Robbie Butler, Peter Appel, Steven Haber, and Cordel Batsun.

Tickets for this special evening – including dinner, dessert, and cash bar at Georgia House followed by reserved show seating at Riverfront Theatre – are $45 per person or $80 per couple. To reserve your Dinner&Theatre tickets call 302-422-0220 or go online to secondstreetplayers.com. Deadline for dinner reservations is Friday, July 6th.

Regular show tickets are also available for all six performances of Run For Your Wife. Show dates and times are Friday and Saturday, July 13, 14, 20 and 21 with curtain at 8 pm and Sunday matinees on July 15 and 22 at 3 pm. All performances are at the Riverfront Theatre, 2 S. Walnut Street, Milford, Delaware.

Regular show tickets are $17 with a one dollar discount for seniors, students, and military at the Sunday matinees. Tickets can be reserved by calling Second Street Players at (302) 422-0220 or online at www.secondstreetplayers.com where fast, safe, and convenient online ticket purchasing is available through Brown Paper Tickets.

Run For Your Wife is performed by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. The show is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowments of the Arts.
