Delmarva Broadcasting Company announced on Wednesday, July 25 that they will be launching Delaware’s newest radio station, Delaware 105.9, which will serve Kent and Sussex Counties. The announcement also stated that longtime local radio host Dan Gaffney will anchor the station which will commence operations on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. The station will feature local, regional, national and international news, traffic, weather coverage and an informative talk show lineup.

“We are thrilled about this,” commented Mike Kazala, Regional General Manager. “When you can get arguably the most popular talk show host in Southern Delaware coupled with our desire to provide an informative talk radio station you want to begin right away.”

Graduating from the Ohio School of Broadcasting in 1982, Gaffney has had over four decades of experience in radio. Beginning his career in Delaware with WGMD in 1986, Dan has held several positions in radio over the years in Delaware and Ohio. Dan has won numerous awards including  Favorite Local Celebrity in Delaware State News for three years and most recently Best Radio Talk Show Host by Delaware Today Magazine in 2012.

“I hope to be a sounding board for local news and issues,” commented Dan Gafffney. “I have a strong reputation of providing a great relationship with the community.”

Dan’s projected sign on date on the new Delaware 105.9 is Tuesday, September 4 during the morning drive time.
