On Friday, August 24 Milford LIVE hosted their first Milford LIVE Experiences Road Trip as they saw the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Washington Nationals in Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA. Milford LIVE Experiences is a unique concept that brings Milford LIVE readers together offline to experience events, programs and activities in person. A huge success, the Phillies Road Trip took 30 Milford LIVE fans to the game as the Phillies defeated the Nationals 4-2. Milford LIVE got its name on the scoreboard and one of our MLIVE fans even caught a foul ball.

Milford LIVE fans were greeted at Abbott’s Grill with a coach bus, pizza and a Phillies swag bag that included foam fingers, drink koozies, bottle openers and playing cards. The bus dropped them off at the new Xfinity Center where they were able to enjoy great bars, restaurants and live entertainment. After some pre-game fun it was time to head over to Citizen’s Bank Park to root on the Philadelphia Phillies.

Chase Utley was on fire stealing bases.

Kyle Kendrick started the pitching for the Philadelphia Phillies and allowed only four hits and struck out three. It was Kendrick’s third straight win as he continued a 21 2/3 innings scoreless streak until it was stopped by Tyler Moore in the seventh inning of Friday night’s game.

For batting, Chase Utley gave the Phillies an early lead, 1-0, in the first inning with a RBI single. In the fourth inning, Jimmy Rollins hit an opposite-field single allowing John Mayberry and Laynce Nix to score, extending the Phillies lead to 3-0. Chase Utley would also show off his superior base running later in the game when he stole second after he was walked. Ryan Howard hit a single to advance Utley home and increase the lead, 4-2. Jonathan Papelbon earned the save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning and preserving a win for Kendrik.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better game,” commented Garret Grier. “The phillies really gave a great performance on both sides of the ball.”

During the game, Citizen’s Bank Park was filled with excitement as Phillies’ fans had a chance to see their team play well against a Nationals team that has dominated their division this year. Milford LIVE fan Dave Wilson joined in the excitement from the beginning as he caught a foul ball during warm-ups before Friday night’s game.

“This was the best trip I have been on,” commented Wilson as he departed the Jorlin Coach bus after the event on Friday. “It was definitely the best seats I have ever had at a Phillies game.”

Milford LIVE intends to make Milford LIVE Experiences a quarterly occurrence where fans from Milford LIVE will have the opportunity to met others from Milford and surrounding communities. Milford LIVE is planning on hosting a Delaware Brewery and Vineyard Tour in the fall and will be releasing details shortly. Please send any suggestions of events you want to attend to bryan@milfordlive.com.
