Child In Critical Condition After Milford Crash

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious crash involving an 8 year old Milford girl. According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:33 a.m. this morning as Jennifer A. Herholdt was operating a 2011 Ford Flex northbound on North Union Church Road approaching the intersection with Shawnee Road. Police stated that at the same time, the eight year old victim was standing on east side of the roadway waiting to cross to the other side and that the young girl failed to see the Ford Flex coming, stepped out into the roadway and was struck by the SUV.

Police state that the 8 year old was removed from the scene by the Delaware State Police Aviation helicopter (Trooper 2) and airlifted to A. I. DuPont Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. Jennifer A. Herholdt, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash. Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Traffic in the area of the crash was impacted for approximately three hours as it was investigated and cleared.
