Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI), Second Street Players and Fur-Baby Boutique will host the second annual Spooktacular Evening on the Riverfront Saturday, October 27, 1-5pm. Adults and children are invited to enjoy the activities located at the Riverfront Theatre on Walnut Street next to the Mispillion River for a children and pet costume contest, storytelling, face painting and Halloween treats.

“The event last year was a great success and we have added to this year’s program to add to that popularity,” commented Marilyn Ambrose, Downtown Milford Inc. Promotions Committee Chairman. “This event is fun for the whole family and since it will be held on a Saturday this year, people will have a chance to explore downtown businesses.”

At 1pm the event will kick off with Chunkin Pumpkins storytelling, crafts, and characters in costume to welcome event goers to the Riverfront lawn. At 2pm children will have the opportunity to show off their costumes early in the Children’s Costume contest. At 3pm Fur-Baby Boutique will be hosting a Pet Party and Costume Contest where dogs will be judged on the their costumes. After the costume contest is finished there will be a costume parade for pet lovers from the Riverfront Lawn to Fur-Baby Boutique.

“This is going to be a very exciting event for pet owners and their Fur-Babies,” commented Sherry Shaffer, owner of Fur-Baby Boutique. “Our halloween costumes are flying off the shelves in preparation for the contest. There is definitely a high level of competitiveness between pet lovers to have their Fur-Baby be the winner.”

Local artist, musician and writer W.J. Walton will present a reading of Halloween stories inside the Riverfront theatre at 4pm to a crowd of children and adults. His witty stories at last year’s event, which was acted out by local thespians, drew laughs from the crowd the entire evening.

The Hidden Gems Boutique will also have a pre-Spooktacular event on Friday October 26 with extended shopping hours from 6-9pm with an adult costume party, shopping and refreshments.  The Labybug Shop will host a coloring contest and will be serving refreshments from 10-5pm on Saturday, October 27.

The downtown event will happen on the evening of Saturday, October 27 from 1 to 5pm at the Riverwalk Theatre on Walnut Street. DMI is encouraging people to dress up in costume and to “be scared and have fun.” For more information on the event contact Downtown Milford Inc. at 302-839-1180.
