It’s been almost six years since the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford (CCGM) hosted the first Holiday Auction & Tastes of Milford, and this year’s committee is looking forward to another wonderful event. On Thursday November 15, 2012 the CCGM will be celebrating the 6th year with co-beneficiaries The Milford School District. MSD Student Affairs Director, Dr. Sylvia Henderson says they are very excited to partner with the chamber this year, and say she is looking forward to it being the largest, most successful one ever.
There have been many changes over the last six years, including the venue, the “Taste of” participants, the auction donations, the beneficiary and even the way the venue is set-up.
Rookery North Banquet Coordinator, Debbie Tappan and Chef Glenda Adkins are happy the event will be held again at the 6162 S. Rehoboth Blvd. Rookery location.
Chef Glenda will be providing samples of some of their tasty menu items, and Debbie will be making sure the banquet rooms, the card room and bar area are set-up nicely with several tables for food vendors, silent auction items and live auction items as well. The banquet rooms will also have beautiful bistro tables available for people to set their food and beverages on while they enjoy their “Tastes”. Speaking of beverages, the cash bar will be fully stocked, and their helpful staff will be ready to take your drink orders.
Tastes of” 6th year Chairperson Barbara Steele has already confirmed nine eight food vendors who will be joining the Rookery. Abbott’s Grill, Walmart, Grotto’s and Mr. Barbecue will be back, and new this year are Burgers & Beans, Dolce’, Betty Lou’s and Troop’s Catering.
Event tickets are on sale, $15.00 in advance, and if there are any left the cost is $20.00 the night of the event. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the event usually runs until around 9:00 p.m. Auctioneer Dave Wilson will be back for the sixth time, helping CCGM up the bids at the Live Auction. Dave always does a great job, and bidders enjoy his energy and enthusiasm.
The Chamber is currently accepting donation items starting at minimum value of $25.00 and has already received many gift cards, art work and home accessories. They expect to have over one hundred auction items ready. CCGM is also looking for businesses to join as a sponsors of this year’s event. Several sponsorships are available ranging from the $1,000.00 Corporate Level, to Friend of the Chamber at $50.00. Many of the sponsorships include tickets to the event.
This event is open to the community, and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford, along with the Milford School District, hopes to have another successful year.
