Cross Country

Phalen Wins Henlopen Crown; Boys, Girls Finish in the Top Three

Henry Phalen surged ahead of the pack with a career-best 16:42 to become the latest individual cross country champion from MHSCC at Saturday’s Henlopen Championship at Killens Pond State Park. Alexis Groce finished a strong runner-up with a Killens best 19:47 to lead the girls to a runner-up team finish as well. The boys finished third overall.

Trevor Maloney (9th, 17:42), Hannah Uebele (9th, 21:27) and Lydia Cole (15th, 22:00) reached 2nd-team All-Henlopen, while Andrew Eshelman (16th, 17:59), Janin Rodriguez (19th, 22:12), James Hagen (22nd, 18:15) and Brandon Munce (24th, 18:25) each earned Hon. Mention.

Kevin Johnson, Mike Szczepanski, Dylan Hilligoss, Josh McCormick, Eric Nielson, Molly Fulton and Maddy Corporan ran career-best times. Overall, 34 MHSCCers ran their fastest Killens Pond time.
