Christmas House Tour Takes Place Dec. 6

Milford’s Relay for Life team, The Rose Colored Lasses, will host their fifth annual Christmas House Tour on Thursday, December 6, from  6 to 9pm.  One of many events throughout the year sponsored by The Rose Colored Lasses, The Christmas House Tour allows participants to celebrate the season while raising money for a great cause.

“The House Tour is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” commented Rose Colored Lasses member Dee Greenley. “It kicks off the Christmas season and gets people into the holiday spirit”

The houses included on the tour are some of the best decorated houses in the Milford area, adorned with Christmas lights, nativity scenes, flowers and Christmas trees. The tour includes five Milford area homes including the Causey Mansion Bed and Breakfast at 2 Causey Avenue, David and Dawn Kenton’s home at 200 Lakeview Avenue, A Mystery Home with a Colonial Flair and Geoffrey and Laura Howard’s home at 4 Sunset Lane.

Dee is one of the original members of the Rose Colored Lasses Relay for Life team that began as a group of friends that exercised together at Curves Fitness in Milford. Ms. Greenley borrowed the House Tour idea from a program she organized to raise money for The Newcomers Club in Dover years before. This year Dee expects the team to raise their annual goal of $1,000 per team member. All of the proceeds from the Christmas House Tour will go directly to the American Cancer Society and their continuing efforts to fight cancer.

The American Cancer Society‘s Relay for Life Event in Milford occurs in July each year but teams from across the nation are busy raising awareness and donations for the event all year long. The July event as a whole gives individuals across our community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember love ones lost and fight back against the disease.

“We have a lot of people in our community that have been diagnosed with cancer, I have lost three friends myself,” commented Dee. “Relay for Life is a great organization and we will continue to support their efforts.”

The fifth annual Christmas House Tour will be held on Thursday, December 6, from  6 to 9pm. Refreshments will be served at the Howard home at 4 Sunset Lane on the last leg of the tour and the drawing for a raffle basket will be held. Tickets for this year’s House Tour are $10 and may be purchased at Blooming Boutique during business hours and on December 1 from 10am-3pm in front of Big Lots in Milford.  Additionally, tickets may be purchased from Dee Greenlee (424-0395) or Rosie Babel (430-0532).
