The Milford High Varsity wrestling team continues to prepare for one of the biggest preseason events in the Henlopen Conference, the annual Milford Invitational tournament to be hosted by the Buccaneers on Dec. 7 to 8. Some of the top teams and athletes from the Blue Hen and Henlopen conferences, including defending Division II State Champions Poly Technical High School and top Division I programs, will be participating in the annual tournament.

“I am proud of how hard the guys have been working,” said MHS head coach Dan Rigby. “Some of them made commitments to work hard, and that’s what they have been doing.”

Senior defending Conference Champ Alvonte Drummond is expected to be a key player this season for the Bucs. Drummond, coming back from a shoulder injury, claims to be in perfect health and fully prepared for the upcoming season. He currently holds 98 career wins and may have his 100th victory by the Milford tournament.

“Right now I’m getting mentally prepared and working hard in practice. I see no major competition,” said Drummond, confidently. The Woodbridge Riders will play host to the Bucs’ conference season opener on Wednesday December 5 at 6 pm.
