The Delaware State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred early this morning south of Camden sending four people to the hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:08 a.m. as Matthew D. Givens, 21, of Milford, was operating a 2011 Dodge Nitro southbound on US 13 when according to police, the vehicle left the west side of the roadway and struck a street sign (Worship Lane) just south of Lochmeath Way. Police state that the Dodge continued in a southerly direction before striking a curb and becoming airborne, then striking the ground with its front bumper causing it to rotate end over end and then strike a tree on the passenger’s side where it came to a stop on its roof. Givens and his three female passengers were all transported to Kent General Hospital by EMS where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Southbound US13 south of Lochmeath Way was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared. According to police, alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident and charges are pending.
