The Board of Directors of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club proudly announces that Linda Chick will serve as Chairperson of the 2013 Annual Fund for Kids Campaign. The campaign raises critical funds in support of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club’s educational and youth development programs. All funds raised during this effort will be matched dollar for dollar by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
Programs at the Club are geared toward helping kids develop into productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Studies show that many of the children who participate in our after-school homework help program, “Power Hour,” and attend the Club on a daily basis have improved academic performance, attendance and behavior; lowered rates of juvenile crime, drug use, teenage pregnancy, and drop-out; and are more likely to complete high school and college, as a result of our programs.
Linda has supported the Boys & Girls Club for many years, formerly serving on the Capital Campaign committee to raise funds to build the facility on Airport Road. She participated because she was convinced that there needed to be a safe and secure place for all children to spend after school hours, a positive place where their natural talents and abilities could be encouraged and where they would be respected and nurtured.
Linda volunteered to chair the Annual Fund for Kids Campaign this year because she understands that a loving environment is crucial to developing caring and compassionate youth adults. Linda observes, “Children learn best by the example set by the adults around them. Every day is a new opportunity for growth and development for children at the Boys & Girls Club.”
Executive Director, Tod Van Eyken feels “The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club is thrilled to have Mrs. Chick lead our Annual Fund Campaign. Linda has a long history of giving of her time and energy to children’s causes in the Greater Milford area. The Boys & Girls Club has especially benefited from her tireless service in support of our annual Kids Fest celebration and throughout they years she has given generously to our Santa Workshop, our Poinsettias Sale and our annual Bowl-A-Thon.”
The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club’s Annual Fund for Kids Campaign focuses on generating annual operating support from individuals and businesses that will enable GMBGC staff to continue to provide quality program services to over 250 area youth. The drive runs through June 2013 with a goal of $60,000.
