Police Request Public’s Help In Identifying Burglary Suspect

The Milford Police is asking the public’s help in identifying a burglary suspect. On the early morning of March 11, 2013 (between the hours of 3:00 am and 5:00 am) an unknown male suspect gained entry into the Shore Stop located in the 400 block of Bay Rd and The Market Place Convenience Store located in the 600 block of NW Front St and attempted to gain entry into the Sunoco Gas Station & Convenience Store located in the 300 block of Milford-Harrington Highway. The male suspect stole various items from Shore Stop and The Market Place Convenience Store. The male suspect is described as being average build, 5’11 to 6’3, wearing a dark colored jacket, light colored hood on his head, light colored pants and light colored shoes. Gainer Charged With Firearm Violations

On March 5, 2013, the Milford Police Criminal Division arrested and charged Wayne E. Gainer of Milford with 6 counts of Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited. During a search of Gainer’s residence (in the 900 block of N. Church St), for an unrelated case, detectives report locating several shotguns, rifles, handguns and ammunition. Gainer is person prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition due to a prior violent felony conviction. Gainer was arraigned through JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional in default of $18,000 secured bond.

Smith Arrested For Attempting to Purchase Weapon at Wal-Mart

On March 1, 2013 the Milford Police Criminal Division arrested and charged Cameron W. Smith of Milford with Attempted Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited and Violation of a PFA Order stemming from an incident that occurred on January 26, 2013 at Walmart Department Store.. Detectives were contacted by the ATF and advised that Smith attempted to purchase a 20 gauge shotgun from Walmart and provided false information on the federal form for purchase. Smith is a person prohibited due to an active PFA order against him. Smith was arraigned through JP2 and was committed to Sussex Correctional in default of $12,500 cash bond.

Lopez Charged With Strangulation and Assault 3rd Degree

On February 27, 2013, the Milford Police arrested and charged a Milford man with Strangulation and Assault 3rd Degree in connection with a domestic incident that occurred at a residence in the 500 block of NE Front St. Police allege that Alvaro Lopez and a 27yo female victim were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated and Lopez then struck the female victim in the lip and grabbed her by the arms, then grabbed the female victim around the throat area with his hands and attempted to strangle her. The female victim refused medical treatment for the abrasions and bruises she suffered. Lopez was arraigned through JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional in default of $6,000 cash bond.
