Early in the morning of April 12, 2013, the Milford Police responded to the area of South Dupont Hwy and Johnson Road after receiving a report of a naked man on the side of the roadway. Officers made contact with the 24 year old male victim on foot. The victim reportedly had injuries to his head and face, and he was transported to Milford Bayhealth Hospital by medical personnel where it was discovered that he had also sustained multiple stab wounds to the head, face and abdominal areas. The victim was admitted for life threatening injuries but was in stable condition.

Detectives discovered that the male victim was at Wawa store (900 block of North Dupont Hwy, Milford) an hour earlier attempting to get a ride back to the Camden area. The male victim made contact with Anthony C. Woods, who offered the victim a ride in the vehicle that Woods was operating. Shortly after leaving Wawa, Woods allegedly pulled the vehicle over and displayed a knife. He is accused of then advising the male victim to perform a sexual act and preventing the male victim from exiting the vehicle after the victim refused to perform the sexual act, including punching the victim in the face. Woods allegedly continued to assault the victim until the victim performed the sexual acts with Woods, who is accused of afterward stabbing the male victim twice in the abdomen and once in the face, and leaving the male victim on the side of the road where he was later found by Police.

On April 14, Detectives and Patrol Officers apprehended Woods at a residence in Brightway Commons Apartment Complex (Also known as Banneker Heights). Woods was charged with Rape 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree Armed with Deadly Instrument, Assault 1st Degree, Possession of Deadly Weapon During Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree. Woods was arraigned and committed to SCI in default of $166,000 cash bond.
