On Thursday, April 18, City Manager Richard Carmean and Councilman Skip Pikus went to “work” at Abbott’s Grill to raise money for Downtown Milford Inc. At the event, Mr. Carmean donned a chef’s jacket in order to prepare Dick Carmean’s Famous Meat Lasagna to add to the menu options for the evening. While Mr. Carmean worked in the kitchen, Councilman Pikus worked behind the bar, creating cocktails and pouring drinks for the many Milford citizens in attendance.
“You guys need to go easy on me,” Councilman Pikus joked with several of the patrons sitting at the bar. The regular bartenders at Abbott’s Grill were on hand to help him with their specialty cocktails as well.
While Councilman Pikus worked behind the bar, Mr. Carmean mingled among the crowd in Bald Jason’s Pub, even delivering some of his delicious lasagna to patrons who ordered it.
“I do a lot better in the kitchen making lasagna than I would behind the bar,” Mr. Carmean joked when asked why he was out in the crowd while Councilman Pikus was mixing drinks.
The event raised money for Downtown Milford Inc. as all donations and 10 percent of the evening’s dinner sales were slated for the organization.
