Originally held at the Delaware State Fair Grounds, this year’s event will be held on the grounds of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, located at 101 Delaware Veterans Boulevard off Airport Road in Milford. The day will underscore the connection to natural resources through play and creative activities.

Beginning the day with the Be Great 5K Run/Walk, families are asked to join the community in raising funds to benefit the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, whose mission is to create a positive, strong future for all children. Serving families in both Kent and Sussex Counties, the Club ensures that children experience guidance, mentoring and other positive influences that help mold the course of their lives. All monies raised through the Be Great 5K Run/Walk will be matched by The Boys & Girls Club of Delaware.

Registration for the 5K begins at 7am on Saturday, June 8 with the race beginning at 8am. Kids races, which includes a dash for children 5 and under, a quarter mile run for kids 6 to 10 and a one mile run for kids 11 to 14, will begin at 9am and awards will be given for all ages. For information, runners and walkers are urged to call the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club at 302-422-4453 and can register for the race at by simply clicking on the Be great 5K Run/Walk banner in the top right corner of the page.

After the Be Great 5K Run/Walk, participants are welcome to join the Kids’ Fest activities that begin at 10am, at the same location. Kids Fest “A Day for Kids” features pony and cart rides; an array of huge inflatables including bounces, slides and a maze; an obstacle course; carnival games, and a train ride. A Youth Talent Showcase presents an opportunity for gifted young people to “strut their stuff” before an appreciative audience as entertainment throughout the day will include clowns, jugglers, magicians and familiar characters.

The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club is extending a special invitation to all community organizations to participate in the Healthy Kids Expo at Kids Fest. Kids Fest is an outdoor event, and there is plenty of space for vendors on the grounds. Business and organizations are encouraged to highlight the activities and benefits for children of being involved in their programs. The Club asks that vendors provide a hands-on activity for young people and vendors may also use the day as a fundraising opportunity. The objective of the event is to provide a day of affordable fun while connecting families to community resources.

Admission is $5 per adult and free for Kids. Once inside, $5 wristbands will get kids an all day pass for rides and games.
