After ten years of business in the Milford Village Shopping Center, Diamond State Dentistry decided to expand, building a new office off Airport Road. The open house, held on Friday, August 23 showcased the new state-of-the-art building while celebrating ten years of service to the Milford community. Dr. Lucinda Bunting and her staff escorted visitors through the ‘coastal chic’ facility as guests were entertained by live music, performers and homemade cooking.
Dr. Bunting received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1991 where she also taught in the Operative Dentistry, Pathology, and Emergency departments. After graduation and induction into the National Dental Honor Society, OKU, she completed the General Practice Residency at Wilmington Hospital in 1992. Dr. Bunting practiced for over ten years in a group practice in Dover and then Georgetown, Delaware and in 2003 started a solo practice in Milford, Delaware.
Her decision to open and expand her business in Milford derives from what she calls Milford’s ‘downstate feeling’. “Growing up in Selbyville, Delaware Milford has always been ‘upstate’ to me,” commented Dr. Bunting. “…but Milford has that downstate feel and it has always felt like home.” Doctors Puddicombe and Dr. Sels, originally from the Felton and Harrington areas, share Dr. Bunting enthusiasm about the Milford area as a part of the Diamond State Dentistry team.
The company has four full-time hygienists that are committed to helping patients and their families achieve the optimum in dental health. Helping grow the business by building relationships with their customers, four of Dr. Buntings employees have been with her for over ten years. Known as ‘diamond girls’, her staff members that continue with the practice for over ten years receive a diamond pendant. At the open house on Friday were diamond girls Dental Assistant Amber Messick and Registered Dental Hygienist Roslyn Gale.
“We have great patients and a fun atmosphere,” stated Gale when asked about her tenure with Diamond State Dentistry. “I enjoy building relationships with patients over the years and have several patients that I first met my first year ten years ago.”
Dr. Bunting is already preparing for further expansion of her practice and has anticipated bringing on several more dentists and hygienists to meet demand from the local community.
