State releases easy peasy list of COVID-19 testing sites; asks public to test

As the number of COVID-19 cases skyrocket around the country, the state of Delaware has released a easy-to-read list...

coolCoolspring Cottage opened in September as downtown Milford’s newest specialty boutique, located at 22 South Walnut Street. Offering expanded lines of women’s clothing, handbags, jewelry and gifts, owner Judy DeMeno is no stranger to retail as the Milford store will be her third business she has opened in Southern Delaware.

In 1989 Judy opened The Jetty on 3rd Street in Lewes where she offered casual beach wear and gifts for locals and tourists alike. Needing room for expansion, she relocated to the popular 2nd Street in downtown Lewes before selling the store to an employee. Seven years ago DeMeno opened the original Coolspring Cottage on Route 9 in Milton primarily selling beach wear, gifts and seasonal items.

Judy decided to look at the town of Milford for the location of her next boutique after speaking with Milly Pedersen, a businesswomen that will be opening her new store across the street in downtown Milford in the near future. DeMeno remembered the town from a visit years ago when she and her son saw a play during the winter months at the Riverfront Theatre on the Mispillion River.

“Milly told me about how the town of Milford is trying to develop and bring more business into downtown,” commented Judy. “I was at a point in Milton where I wanted to make a change and I enjoyed being in a downtown area before in Lewes. I can see that Milford is trying to become a destination with the arts community and the different festivals in downtown.”

Over the years DeMeno has enjoyed building relationships between her customers and herself and looks forward to starting those connections in Milford. She expects her Milton customers to follow the Coolspring Cottage to Milford just as they did when she moved her store from Lewes to Milton in 2006. Judy understands the challenges that come with starting up in a new location and is ready to begin “helping the town of Milford in their revitalization efforts.”

“I hope the store will become a necessity in town when people need something new and different,” commented DeMeno. “I will offer the latest trends in fashion for younger and older women while also finding items that are classic and tasteful that stretch over the years.”

The Coolspring Cottage will be open 11am to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday at 22 South Walnut Street in downtown Milford. To find out more information about the boutique, Judy encourages individuals to visit the store or call 302-422-5144.
