Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI) has announced this month that the organization is adding a new event in November, encouraging residents and visitors to experience downtown restaurants and bars. The 2013 Toasting The Town Fall Crawl will be held on Wednesday, November 27, the night before Thanksgiving. Each participating restaurant and bar will feature a sampling of a unique drink or food and celebrate the holiday season with a twist that reflects their specific business. A similar concept and design to the St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl held annually in March, the Fall Crawl will take advantage of the one night that many Milfordians consider an unofficial Homecoming for Milford residents over 21.

“We are very excited about the Fall Crawl,” commented event organizer Sara Marin. “The St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl has become such a great event and we thought that we could connect this crawl with the Thanksgiving spirit of coming home for the holidays.”

Event-goers can purchase a T-shirt from any participating business prior to the event to be a part of the downtown Fall Crawl fun. Event shirts will be on sale at participating locations for $21 or $26, depending on the size, and available on Friday, November 1. Beginning at 7 pm on November 27 participants are encouraged to visit the sponsoring venues and receive a check next to each logo on the back of the shirt. Once all the sponsors are checked off, participants can send a photo of themselves and their friends on the Crawl to Milford LIVE via email at bryan@milfordlive.com or by posting directly on the Milford LIVE facebook page for a chance to win an ipod shuffle.

Milford’s new brewery Mispillion River Brewing will be involved this year and serving up new creations from their Brewmaster, Jared Barnes. They plan to open the 1,000 square foot tasting and tap room off of Airport Road on November 15 of this year, focusing on tasting room sales and distribution of kegs to local restaurants and pubs. On the night of the Fall Crawl Mispillion River Brewing will be featured at Abbott’s Grill on NE Front Street.

Participating businesses will have specials for T-shirt wearers established in their place of business. These may include discounted drinks and food specials. The 2013 sponsors include Abbott’s Grill, Arena’s & Bar, Georgia House, Longshots Bar & Billiards, Milford LIVE.com, Mispillion River Brewing and Park Place Restaurant & Lounge.

“I hope we get some positive feedback from the people coming back home to Milford for the holidays,” commented Marin. “Hopefully they will realize how great of a town Milford has become and want to be a part of it. In addition I hope they will understand that Downtown Milford Inc. puts on great events like these and want to get involved.”

T-shirts will be long sleeved and maroon and gold and will be sold at downtown business including Dolce Bakery & Coffee Shop, Georgia House, Downtown Milford Inc. and on Milford LIVE.com. DMI is only ordering 100 shirts the first year and are expecting them to sell out fast based on the success of the St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl. Shirts will be sold for $21 (S-XL) and $26 (2XL-3XL). For more information on the Fall Crawl individuals can email Sara Marin at Sara@downtownmilford.org .
